 Are you

"Red Cross Ready"?

While the American Red Cross and our partners are committed to lending a helping hand in to those in need, assistance may be delayed in times of disaster.  That's why it's important for you and your family to Be Red Cross Ready by completing three easy steps:

Get A Kit

Make A Plan

Be Informed

Let's start with the kit.  Listed below are the items that are suggested for a good disaster supply kit.  You can make your own supply kit listing for your personal use.

Find a waterproof container and start filling it with the things listed below or whatever you have on your list.  We have two weeks to get it completed before we start part two of our project, Make A Plan.  Our goal is to have it all completed by June 1st which is the official start of hurricane season.  Check back on May 3rd for information on Make A Plan.

I'm Just a Volunteer...

How many times have I heard that statement?  Do you know that our chapter could not operate without 'just a volunteer'?  'Just A Volunteer' has many, many faces and names.  'Just A Volunteer' is the one who answers our phone, gives you referrals, and helps us all out with our daily duties.  'Just A Volunteer is the one who taught classes to help you learn lifesaving skills that saved your baby.  'Just A Volunteer' was there at your house last night when the fire department called and said you needed us.  'Just A Volunteer' was helping out on the big project we were working on to make sure you had what you needed after the fire.  'Just A Volunteer' has been with us since 1917 when this chapter first opened in Wayne County.  Without 'Just A Volunteer' we could not be in all the places you see Red Cross in our community.  So next time you are tempted to say I'm just a volunteer, remember the story about 'Just A Volunteer'.   You are everything to us!!

To become a volunteer please call our office at 919 735-7201 and ask for Tammy Forrester.
